What is Your Most Important Relationship?

Uncategorized Nov 03, 2020

The first thing that pops into my head is my husband, our children and family are my everything.  They give me purpose and make me whole.  They fill my days with meaning.  But the fact of the matter is they are not my most important relationship.... the one relationship I commit 100% of myself to every day is..... ME

Our most important relationship is our relationship to ourself.  How you treat yourself is how you treat others.  How you talk to yourself reflects in how you expect others to behave towards you.  Your relationship with yourself is what reflects in the world as the movie of your life.

Which is why my number one purpose every day is to be more present.  Our presence is the present we give to the world, to our family and friends and ultimately ourself.  Change your relationship with you....cut out all of the negative self-limiting talk and replace it with powerful "I am.." statements will reprogram your brain but also rewrite your life.

So let's talk simple.  I could give you my morning practice that is essential for setting the course and tone of my day because it centers me in who I desire to be.  How I desire to show up in the world. My joy, love, kindness and grace.  Doesn't mean I always deliver.  It just sets the intention for who I want to be.  It is my compass that I track my progress to.

Since we choose every moment who we are, choose to be present.  Wherever your feet, heart and brain are....stay there.

Why not choose consciously.  Why not be more deliberate. Why not upgrade your brain with kinder more loving thoughts like you do your computer.  Here is an exercise to see why you are stuck.  Will you take 20 minutes to create a better life?  You choose... You decide to stay stuck or break free.  I am assuming we are going to do this together!!!!

Grab a piece of paper or a journal... my favorite.... I have a million around the house..They are like bunnies and keep having babies!  The more I reflect and write, the more I learn.  Come with me and play....  Life is fun when you decide to make it fun!  Set a timer for 5 or 10 minutes.  Whatever your threshold is so you make it easy...

Close your eyes because this is an inside job.  We are going to focus on 10 equal breaths going deeper and deeper.  1, 2, 3, 4 in...hold for 2...4, 3, 2, 1 out hold for 2.... Repeat focusing on breathing and counting evenly for 10  breaths.  Just breath equally and see how you start to let go and relax.  Imagine if this is all you did every day, you would be calmer...

Keep watching your breath go in and out until the timer rings. Observe what thoughts try to grab you, release before they catch you...breathe and count.. see the thought and let it go...  I promise, you will remember it later!

Grab your journal and write down what comes to mind or heart.  How you felt, what you heard, was it hard or easy...

Write 3 things you tell yourself that hurt you

  1. Who do you think you are to try that
  2. You're not good at that ...
  3. You’re going to fail
  4. You can't.......

In the next 5 minutes....rewrite your I am not's into I am's...

  1. I am learning something new every day
  2. I am becoming better, stronger and more powerful every day
  3. I am fully supported, safe and courageous
  4. I am love, kindness, joyful, grateful, happy, playful, creative, crazy, strong, brave, smart, committed, powerful.....

Repeat tomorrow ....

Practice breathing consciously to connect to your inner being every day and practice teaching yourself new words, new stories that reflect all you truly are.

I know you are destined for greatness...but only you can tell yourself you deserve it and are ready to receive.
